Casting/ Audition intentions, plans and explanation

Casting/ Audition intentions, plans and explanation

In order to create a film opening to the highest standard that we can, we have to make sure that we get the best actors/ actresses for the job, to do this we are going to carry out auditions for the main roles in our film opening.

For this process we will audition at least two people for each role to ensure that we have a choice when picking our final cast. For the auditions, auditionees will be briefed on the character they could potentially be playing, this allows them to create a character in their head of who they're meant to be whilst also showing us how they adapt to the roles so that we can decide whether they are the right person for our film opening. After this we will film the audition, starting by asking their name and age and then asking them to repeat a line from our initial script. Carrying out these auditions allows us to look at potential cast members and how well they portray a character and the way in which they produce a line from the script. We will film the auditions to use as proof that we have thought about different people for different roles and not just cast the first person we could, as well as this, we will film them to see what they look like on camera to make sure that they have the look that we want for our characters.

It is important that we carry out auditions before casting as we need to make sure that cast members portray characters correctly and to ensure that we pick the right people for the job as we can use the auditions to look at different aspects of their acting such as how they use dialogue and how they stand etc.
